Rotarians offer support for rehabilitation of the disabled

Lahore: Members of Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison and Rotaract Club visited Hope Rehabilitation Center where Dr. Khalid Niazi informed them in a multimedia presentation about the role of HOPE in rehabilitation of the Disabled.

He informed that mostly local organizations are providing conventional limbs which are cheaper but are not flexible, while HOPE is providing modular limbs which are slightly more expensive but are durable and long lasting. The modular limbs take less preparation and fitting time and thus more patients can be accommodated in less time. Past District Governors A.Q. Alavi and Suhail Ahmed, District Governor Nominee Shehzad Ahmed, Club President Aslam Chaudhry, Charter President G.R. Siddiqui, Syed Rashid Rizvi, Haroon Naimat, SEI Parvez, Rotaract President Amina Chughtai and Syed Hussnain Kazmi were present in the meeting besides other members. Rotarians appreciated role of HOPE and offered to carry out joint humanitarian projects for the rehabilitation of disabled. The meeting was arranged as a part of a Matching Grant for providing artificial limbs to the poor funded by The Rotary Foundation. Through other grants,
Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison is providing sewing machines to set up vocational centers for teaching sewing skills to women and girls. The Club is also providing health awareness services in Lahore. The Club will assist in providing an Ophthalmic Operating Microscope worth US$ 60,000 to LRBT Hospital, Lahore. The Club will also distribute buffalos and goats among the deserving villagers in Sheikhupura and Faisalabad districts in Punjab, and Tharparkar district in Sindh.

Members of Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison and Rotaract Club visited Kujer and surrounding village in district Sheikhupura to see working of the vocational centers consisting of sewing machines and computer centers. The centers have been set up with support from the Matching Grants funded by The Rotary Foundation. District Governor Nominee Shehzad Ahmed, Club President Aslam Chaudhry, Secretary Shaheen Ahmad, Syed Rashid Rizvi, Haroon Naimat and members of Rotaract Club visited the centers. The centers have been set up in Bhadru Minara, Kharianwala, Machikey, Jhamkey, Kujer, Farooqabad, Sucha Souda and some other surrounding villages. The sewing machines have also been distributed among Rotary Clubs in Sindh so that they can also provide an essential skill to the women and girls to help them earn their livelihood. The members also visited community library in Kujer village. Through other grants, Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison will assist in providing an Ophthalmic Operating Microscope worth US$ 60,000 to LRBT Hospital, Lahore. The Club will also distribute buffalos and goats among the deserving villagers in Sheikhupura and Faisalabad districts in Punjab, and Tharparkar district in Sindh.
