Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison provides artificial limbs to deserving persons

Members of Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison participated in the Artificial Limbs presentation ceremony, which was organized under "Limbs for All" campaign of Hope Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Khalid Niazi made a presentation about the project and informed the audience that limbs provided by Hope are modular and more durable as compared to conventional ones. He informed that the limbs are provided free of cost to deserving cases which are sponsored by philanthropists and service organizations like Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs. Later, the participants met with the recipients who have received limbs under this campaign. They were presented flower bouquets. Later Justice Amer Raza and Khalid Khurki addressed the recipients and encouraged them to actively participate in their daily routine. Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison sponsored artificial limbs of six persons. District Governor Nominee Shehzad Ahmed, Club president Aslam Chaudhry and SEI Parvez participated on behalf of the Rotary Club. Later, they had a meeting with Dr. Niazi and agreed to provide funds for artificial limbs for twenty two persons. The funds would be provided from Matching Grant no. 58347 for artificial limbs from The Rotary Foundation, where Rotary Club of Chicago Far North is the Primary International partner. Other partner Rotary Clubs include Evanston Lighthouse, Chicago Financial District, Chicago Midwest, Naperville, and Rotary International Districts 6440 and 6450, USA.

He informed that mostly local organizations are providing conventional limbs which are cheaper but are not flexible, while HOPE is providing modular limbs which are slightly more expensive but are durable and long lasting. The modular limbs take less preparation and fitting time and thus more patients can be accommodated in less time. Past District Governors A.Q. Alavi and Suhail Ahmed, District Governor Nominee Shehzad Ahmed, Club President Aslam Chaudhry, Charter President G.R. Siddiqui, Syed Rashid Rizvi, Haroon Naimat, SEI Parvez, Rotaract President Amina Chughtai and Syed Hussnain Kazmi were present in the meeting besides other members. Rotarians appreciated role of HOPE and offered to carry out joint humanitarian projects for the rehabilitation of disabled. The Club will also distribute buffalos and goats among the deserving villagers in Sheikhupura and Faisalabad districts in Punjab, and Tharparkar district in Sindh.
